Beverly J. Schwede was born Nov. 3, 1944 in Norfolk to Everett and Louise (Heidermann) Newman. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winside, attended District 78 rural school, and graduated from Winside High School in 1963.

She married Jerry L. Schwede on Jan. 14, 1967 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk, where she remained a lifelong member. The couple built and remodeled homes in the Norfolk area, eventually settling on the Schwede homestead in Hoskins, where they lived until moving to Norfolk in 2019.

Beverly worked at Commercial State Bank in Hoskins from 1964 to 1979, then at Goodyear Tire & Rubber until her retirement in 2003. Never one to sit still, she continued to stay active in retirement with part-time (fun) roles at Amy’s Hallmark, Shamrock Nursery and Stu’s Bar & Grill.

Beverly found joy in gardening, traveling to Arizona, crafting, and taking scenic drives that often ended at a casino. She cherished playing dominoes and cards with her grandchildren. Known for her welcoming smile and warm greetings, she was always ready to lend a hand to friends and family.

Survivors include her children, Kathy Sanders (Eric) of Hoskins and Tony (Jenny) Schwede of Hoskins; her brother, Tom (Patricia) Newman of Hoskins; her aunt, Maxine (Delvin) Schulz of Norfolk; and five grandchildren: Rilye Sanders of Tokyo, Japan; Seth Sanders of Norfolk; Ellie Schwede of Hoskins; Taylor, and Chris Schwede of Hoskins; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents, Everett and Louise; her brothers, Gary and Dennis; her sister-in-law, Patricia Newman; her brother-in-law, Darrell Schwede; and her parents-in-law, Harry and Mabel Schwede.

Beverly’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Condolences may be expressed to the family on-line at www.stonacekfuneralchapel.com.
