Black bests White 40-34 in Wildcat Spring Game

The Black Team (defense) forced four turnovers to register a 40-34 win over the Gold Team (offense) in Wayne State’s spring football scrimmage Saturday at Cunningham Field.
The scoring was done with points awarded for explosion plays, sacks, third down conversions, forced three and outs and other plays as the Wildcats closed out the 2016 spring drills.
Quarterbacks Zach Osborn, Taylor Reedy and Aaron Bleil each ran four series, with Osborn getting a fifth and final series running the NASCAR offense.
The defense controlled the scrimmage, forcing four turnovers and several sacks in the contest.  Interceptions were recorded by sophomore Aaron Wright and redshirt freshman Ian Ailts, while fumble recoveries were credited to redshirt freshman Cody Eischeid and redshirt freshman Tyler Thomsen.
Junior quarterback Zach Osborn had the lone offensive score in the contest, a 45-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Nick Roth.
Wayne State will open the 2016 football season on Thursday, Sept. 1, playing a 6 p.m. game at MSU Moorhead.
