Zane Jackson had two hits and three RBI’s to propel Wayne to its fifth straight win Monday as they beat Norfolk 7-2 in a makeup game at Memorial Field.
Jackson got the Blue Devils on the board in the top of the first with a solo homer to left field, and Wayne blew the game open in the second with five runs, highlighted by a two-run opposite-field double from Jackson. Hagan Miller and Trevor DeBoer also added RBI singles and Josh Lutt scored on a wild pitch to make it a 6-0 game.
Wayne added another run in the fifth on an RBI single by Miller, scoring Brennan O’Reilly, and rode the three-hit pitching of Lutt to the win, improving to 9-5 on the season.
Lutt struck out two and walked three in six innings of work. Miller led the team with three hits, with Jackson and Blake Bartos each adding two. Jackson had three RBI’s and Miller added two.
Wayne plays at Guardian Angels CC in West Point Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
