Blue Devil bowling posts back-to-back 21-0 shutouts on home lanes

A second straight home dual was held over the weekend for the Wayne High girls and boys bowling teams.

Back at Wildcat Lanes in Wayne, the Blue Devils welcomed the Pirates on Saturday.

The Wayne High girls and Blue Devil boys both won 21-0 in their dual with Plainview.

Head bowling coach at Wayne High Josh Johnson said, “Saturday was a little sluggish for us but both teams found a way to get it done. Both varsity teams struggled with the oil pattern a bit but got enough spares to get the wins. It was good to see them fight through it and get the job done."

In the girls action, the Blue Devils started off a bit sluggish but would continue to try and find the line on their way to win the pinfall match 787-548 of game one. Winning individual matches were Madi Janke / Rylin Hall (138), Regan Fernau (177), Sammi Gubbels (171), Graycen Trautman (157) and Lindsay Niemann (144).

Game two would again find Wayne fighting to find the consistent line. Spares would prove crucial in each match along with a hot finish (six strikes in a row) by Lindsay Niemann, to give Wayne the pinfall victory 793-497. Winning matches for Wayne were Madi Janke (172), Regan Fernau (138), Sammi Gubbels / Lindsay Niemann (221), Graycen Trautman (146) and Rylin Hall (116).

Wayne would win the Baker match 203-116 and the overall match 21-0.

During the boys competition, the Blue Devils would start off hot and put early pressure on the visiting Pirates. Wayne would jump ahead early and never look back. Game one was won by spare shooting as multiple strikes were tough to come by. Wayne would end up winning the pinfall match in game one 928-718. Winning individual matches for the Blue Devils in game one were Dylan Jensen (149), Jamison Meyer (164), Jaden Dramse (167), Konnor Kai (238) and Aiden Peterson / Alex Rodriguez (210).

In game two, the Blue Devils continued to struggle to put bunches of strikes together as the lanes began to transition and break down. Wayne would again pick up enough spares to keep the lead and win the pinfall match 914-822. Winning individual matches were Dylan Jensen / Jamison Meyer (189), Alex Rodriguez (181), Jaden Dramse (171), Konnor Kai (197) and Aiden Petersen (176).

Wayne would go on to the Baker game and the overall match 21-0.

Wayne JV teams also competed in intra-squad games.

Scoring for the girls came from Marie Allemann (83, 150), Madi Korth (138, 103), Samantha Wright (90, 101, 86, 114), Rylee Durant (74, 95, 71, 77), Lilliana Culy (107, 105, 91, 88).

Also, scoring from boys competition were Blake Smith (192, 200), Zane Sievers (168, 189), Lucas Allemann (137, 125, 145, 156), Carlyle Young (130, 120, 120, 119), Mahlik Campbell (96, 91, 125, 105), Brodrick Tiedtke (158, 141, 131, 131) and Tyler Johnson (189, 154, 145, 107).

Johnson added, “the JV also bowled well today (Saturday). They continue to learn and get better each match. It is always fun watching newer bowlers figure things out. We look forward to watching their scores improve."
