The Wayne High boys bowling team opened their season Thursday at Wildcat Lanes with a 16-5 win over Norfolk Catholic.
The Blue Devils got off to a slow start, but quickly found their groove, combining for 12 straight strikes to win the first round of head-to-head matches, 1,038-710. Brogan Foote and Jaden Dramse combined for a 236, Brooks Kneifl rolled a 223, James Dorcey had a 210, Shayne Geidner and Jacob Anderson combined for a 210 and Calvin Starzl added a 159.
The Wayne boys continued to throw well and won the second round 930-597. Starzl led the way with a 220, Dorcey and Geidner both rolled games of 171 and the tandems of Kneifl and Anderson and Foote and Dramse also came in with 171 games.
In Baker action, Norfolk Catholic threw four consecutive strikes late to pull out a 166-162 win.
Wayne’s boys and girls travel to Plainview for a dual Friday.
