Blue Devil cross country places in Norfolk Catholic Invite

A second race was on the schedule Friday morning for the Wayne High girls and boys cross country team.

From Skyview Lake in Norfolk, the Blue Devils competed in the Norfolk Catholic Invite.

The Wayne High girls finished third with 54 points while the Blue Devil boys won the varsity team race with 33 points.

Girls Varsity Results:

Crofton won the girls division with 49 points, Boone Central followed in runner-up (53), Wayne High took third (54), Pierce placed fourth (73) as Oakland-Craig rounded out the top five teams with 86 points.

Wayne High was led by Lilyan Hurner with a ninth place medal (22:27.67) as Yama Kantai took 12th (22:57.9).

Other results came from Olivia Hanson (17th – 23:37.97), Kennasyn Blecke (20th – 23:46.5), Josie Ley (27th – 24:28.53) and Essynce Owens-Webb (47th – 26:33.53).

The top individual runner in the girls division was Zoey Ebmeier from Pierce winning the 5k race in a time of 21:06.28 among the 64 runners.

Girls JV Results:

No team results were posted for Wayne in the 16-person girls JV division as Norah Armstrong posted a runner-up finish in a time of 24:59.82. Other Wayne results came from Hannah Brogren (10th – 28:20.46) and Anna Naeve (15th – 32:54.98).

Girls JH Results:

The Wayne Junior High girls won their division with 32 points followed by Crofton (35). On the 2,000-meter course, Wayne was led by Tayla Hurner in third (7:24.24), Hadley Dunklau followed in fourth (7:49.23) and Elizabeth Hix finished 10th (8:03.36).

Other results came from Sarah Kuchta (19th – 8:17.54), Chloe Kai (58th – 9:19.28) and Alyssa Bargholz (64th – 9:29.01).

Varsity boys results:

Wayne won the boys division with 33 points, Battle Creek followed in runner-up (57), Norfolk Catholic took third (58), Bloomfield placed fourth (89) as O’Neill rounded out the top five teams with 91 points.

Wayne High was led by a runner-up finish from Gavin Redden in a time of 17:37.45. Drew Miller followed in fifth (17:59.5), Emmanuel Gonzalez took 11th (18:24.54) and Alvaro Archundia placed 15th (18:43).

Other results came from Kasen York (22nd – 19:38.9) and Camden Hall (33rd – 20:13.14).

The top individual runner in the boys division was Miles Clausen from Battle Creek winning the 5K in a time of 17:34.3 among the 83 runners.

Boys JV Results:

The Wayne JV boys won their division with 10 points and were led by the top five spots. Boden Dobbins finished first (20:11) followed by Gabriel Armstrong (second – 20:12.66), Landen Claussen (third – 20:31.94), Lance Brink (fourth – 20:38.46) and Grady Maas (fifth – 20:39.32).

Boys JH Results:

The Wayne Junior High boys took seventh with 128 points as Elkhorn Valley won the division with 36 points. The Blue Devils were led by a 20th place finish from Jacob Fehringer (7:30.44) on the 2,000-meter course.
