Blue Devil football concludes season, Endicott finds Jorgensen twice late

Wayne High's Class C1 football season closed on the road on Oct. 24.

From Memorial Stadium in Columbus, the Blue Devils suffered a 55-12 loss at Scotus Central Catholic.

Wayne High ends their season on a six-game losing streak at 1-8.

The Blue Devils trailed at-most 48-0 through three quarters but scored twice in the fourth.

Sophomore quarterback Easton Endicott first found senior Jace Jorgensen on a 20-yard connection followed by later in the quarter with a 44-yard strike between Endicott and Jorgensen.

A miscue on the first PAT led to a failed two-point conversion along with a missed PAT kick following the touchdowns.

Final favored Scotus winning 55-12.

Endicott finished 18-24 for 217 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

Senior Taven Ocampo led the rushing department with 27 yards on nine carries. He tacked on three receptions for 13 yards.

Jorgensen hauled in five catches for 93 yards and two scores.

Other receptions came from senior Parker Patefield (two for 58 yards), senior Brodey Munter (four for 33 yards), junior Chase Nelson (two for nine yards and sophomore Theo Claussen (one for 11 yards).

Defensively, junior William Patefield and Munter both posted a team-high five solo tackles.

Sophomore Carter Mostek and junior Maddux Heithold both added four solo stops with a tackle for loss.

Parker Patefield tallied a tackle for loss among his three tackles (two solo) while junior Waylon Huff recovered a fumble among his three tackles (two solo).

NSAA eight-man high school football will enter their second round of playoffs while 11-man and six-man playoffs will open first round competition all on Oct. 31.

All five Wayne Herald coverage area teams have concluded their season.

Winside qualified for the Class D2 playoffs but lost at Sandhills-Thedford 46-12 to end their year at 5-4.

Other eight-man results: Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (2-6), Tri County Northeast (1-7) and Wakefield (1-7).
