With the ultimate goal to punch your ticket to state, postseason high school girls golf took over Monday and Tuesday in district competition.

From the Wayne Country Club on Tuesday, the Blue Devils were the host site for the C-3 District.

Wayne High pulled away with a 20-shot win thanks to a 378 team score to win the C-3 District. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (398) and West Holt (403) finished second and third both advancing to state as well.

Head Wayne High girls golf coach Josh Johnson said, “I am extremely proud of how the girls showed up today (Tuesday) and battled a fast and tough course. They push themselves so hard. The pressure was definitely there for the girls being home and there were struggles at times. However, when the girls needed to step up (holes 14-18) they did. I was so impressed how well they brought it home, like the champions they are. I am so happy for the seniors (Joslyn Johnson, Charli Sievers and Lindsay Niemann). They go out as 3x District Champs and we will miss them. Now it is time to head off to State and see what happens.”

This marks the third straight year Wayne High girls golf has won their district tournament.

The Blue Devils were led by a runner-up finish from Joslyn Johnson with an 88, followed by a third place result from Carli Canham with a 90 as Charli Sievers took ninth (98).

Other results came from Hallie Heithold (102) and Lindsay Niemann (108).

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was led by Harper Bruning in fifth with a 95, followed by Holly Patefield in sixth (97) and Clara Brummels rounded out the top 10 with a 98. Other results from the Bears came from Skylar Swanson (108) and Danica Gould (116).

Battle Creek placed fourth (423) and Pierce rounded out the top five teams with a 430.

Daleni Knust from West Holt won the C-3 District with an 84 among the 71 golfers and 13 schools.

Other state qualifiers from the C-3 District as individuals will be Rylee Altwine from Pierce (fourth – 91), Molliel Miller (seventh – 98) and Keira Hestekind from Battle Creek (eighth – 98).

Also in the C-3 District, Cedar Catholic (ninth – 472), West Point-Beemer (10th – 494) and Norfolk Catholic (11th – 502). Tri County Northeast didn’t record a team score.
