Blue Devil girls outscored 35-12 in second half, chance to advance to Mid State Conference fifth-place game

Following a play-in victory on their home court the Wayne High girls basketball team took to the road for their second conference tournament game.

From West Point, the Blue Devil girls visited Guardian Angels Central Catholic on Monday during the Mid State Conference girls tourney.

In the girls only outing, Wayne suffered a 56-38 loss.

Wayne High took a 12-10 first quarter lead and added to their lead thanks to a 14-11 second quarter to go up 26-21 at the break. The Bluejays then outscored Wayne, 21-2 in the third and 14-10 in the fourth. Final favored GACC winning 56-38 to improve to 16-2 winning their 14th straight as the visiting Blue Devils fell to 10-11.

Wayne High leaders were sophomore Addison Frank with nine points, junior Haley Kramer followed with eight points as junior Reagan McGuire added five points.

Other scoring came from junior Elle Powicki and sophomore Alexis Legler both with four points, junior Claire Lutter tallied three points and sophomore Mallory Redden scored a point.

Wayne High shot 7-13 from the foul line.
