Blue Devil netters win five-set thriller

Wayne High volleyball fans certainly got their money’s worth Tuesday night as the Blue Devils won a marathon five-set thriller over West Point-Beemer, claiming a 25-16, 19-25, 13-25, 25-22, 21-19 win at Wayne High School.

Three Blue Devils finished in double digits in the kills department, led by Kate Hill’s 16. Haley Kramer added 11 kills and Amelia Legler put 10 away. Jaycee Bruns also had nine kills and Gabbi Judd and Elle Powicki had four apiece. Isabelle Francis had 45 assists, Kramer had four ace serves, Hill added three, Legler had two and Bruns had one.

Defensively, Hill recorded 36 digs, Faith Powicki added 33, Kramer had 19, Francis and Bruns had 13 apiece, Legler and Elle Powicki both had three and Judd had two. Legler and Judd each had three blocks while HIll and Bruns each had one.

The 3-17 Blue Devils travel to Stanton on Thursday.
