A second collegiate signing at Wayne High recently occurred with the upcoming girls wrestling season to highlight Hannah Burris.

Burris, a senior at Wayne High has wrestled between the 115 - 124 lb divisions and signed to next compete at Morningside in Sioux City, Iowa next season on Nov. 11.

She has been busy with her school studies, college visits and preparing for her high school graduation among wrestling workouts.

Burris last wrestled at the Preseason Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa against top competition.

"As for the senior season, I am foregoing the season (with Wayne) and continuing my freestyle season," said Burris. "That is what girls wrestle in college."

She is excited to cheer on the Blue Devil girls wrestling program and "excited to watch Nyla (Bolles) and Anna (Naeve) this season."

Burris will be assisting the Junior High girls wrestling program.

Morningside is under the direction of Jordan Cliff and Burris shared her feelings towards the Mustang program.

"He (coach Cliff) made me feel at ease and really connected with me," said Burris. "Plus Morningside is a fairly new program. This is their third year and I'd love to be a part of the growing team."

During her campus visit and wrestling visit at Morningside, coach Cliff talked to the group for over an hour..

"The campus is smaller and really student involved," said Burris. "Everyone made you feel like you belonged. I really liked his (coach Cliff) enthusiasm and goals for the program."

Hannah Burris plans to pursue a degree in Animal Science and Radiology.

She has mixed emotions with excitement and nervousness but is looking forward to taking another step in her wrestling journey with this opportunity to wrestle at Morningside.

"I have been dreaming of this since I first laced a pair of wrestling shoes up," said Burris. "I'm so thankful that my parents support my dreams."

The first Blue Devil to sign at the next level was senior volleyball player Jacen Hasemann in mid-August planning on attending Kansas Wesleyan University (Salina, KS).
