Blue Devil track & field wins five events indoors

Friday afternoon into the evening marked the start of back-to-back high school indoor track & field invites taking place inside the Wildcat Dome which also showcased Wayne High.

The 2026 Wayne State College  - Class II invite showcased 18 girls and 20 boys high school teams mainly from Nebraska with three programs from Iowa and one from South Dakota on March 20.

The Wayne High girls were led by an individual champion by a new facility/meet record from Addison Frank winning the pole vault (9' 6").

Also, the 4x800-meter relay team of Tayla Hurner, Lilyan Hurner, Elizabeth Hix and Anna Dutcher finished first in 10:32.11.

The Blue Devil boys were led by a new facility/meet record from Grant Maas winning the pole vault (12' 6"), new meet record by Angel Vargas winning the long jump (20' 8 1/2") and Emmanuel Gonzalez won the 3200-meter run with a new meet record (11:14.74).

The Wayne High girls and boys track and field team will next travel to the Columbus Scotus Invite on March 31 at 1 p.m. in Columbus.
