Event number one of four on the season began Nov. 1 for the Wayne Unified bowling program welcoming a trio of schools.
From Wildcat Lanes in Wayne, the Blue Devil Unified bowling members put forth a trio of teams who all placed against O'Neill, Randolph and West Point-Beemer.
Maggie Gubbels, head coach for Unified bowling and Behavior Specialist at Wayne Community Schools said, "Unified bowling isn't just about strikes and spares, it's about inclusion, acceptance, teamwork and friendships that make our program so special."
"We're so proud of our athletes and partners for competing hard, supporting one another and showing what it truly means to be Wayne Proud," Gubbels added.
The first place Wayne team featured Avery Gubbels, Jackson Rutenbeck and Gracyn Johnson; a second place finish was posted by Graycen Trautman, Lauren Ekberg, Maggie Fields and Bryn Tiedtke and earning a third place finish were Matt Robbins, Payton Junck, Ben Haschke and Xander Maxwell.
The Wayne Unified bowling program will next travel to Kings Lanes in Norfolk for the Norfolk High Invite on Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. showcasing 10 other teams.
Other upcoming Blue Devil Unified bowling competitions will be a second Wayne Invite on Nov. 18 before closing out their season in South Sioux City on Nov. 25.
