Blue Devil wrestlers record eight pins; win twice over Knights

A second time in a week, the Wayne High girls and boys wrestlers were in action on their home mat.

From the Wayne Jr/Sr High School gymnasium, the Blue Devils entertained Norfolk Catholic on Thursday.

The Wayne High girls won 64-15 while the Blue Devil boys secured a 66-18 victory.

In the girls dual, Wayne contested match wins came from Yessenia Alba (115) by major decision (18-5) over Gracie Bowers; Gracelynn Daniels (125) by fall (2:53) over Lily Curry; Ivette Ozuna (145) by fall (3:35) over Arynn Tielke and Essynce Owens-Webb (100) by fall (1:00) over Claire Christensen.

Head girls wrestling coach Jason Trautman said, “an extra shoutout to our senior Yessenia Alba for winning her first dual matchup. Yessenia will be graduating next week. She will then go on to basics for the Marines.”

The Blue Devil girls also picked up wins by forfeit in 105, 110, 120, 135, 140, 155 and 235.

Megan Magnuson (130) suffered a loss by decision (8-4) to Micheli Fisher while Kaylei McIntosh (170) suffered a loss by fall (1:12) to Shelby Johnson. The Knights won 190 by forfeit.

During the boys dual, Wayne contested match wins came from Jaime Ramirez Salas (190) by fall (3:34) over Mason Dusek; Alan Ramirez Salas (215) by fall (1:24) over Miles Ramaker; Maddox Ziska (285) by fall (2:31) over Tyson Risinger; Hunter Foote (144) by fall (4:46) over Tanner Risinger and Grant Maas (157) by fall (2:30) over Oliver Daniel.

The Blue Devils also won 175, 106, 113, 120, 132 and 138 by forfeit.

Samuel Leseberg (165) suffered a loss by fall (1:17) to Kade Young; Thomas Raymundo (126) suffered a loss by fall (1:43) to Yair Santiago and Daevin Casarrubia (150) suffered a loss by fall (1:54) to Carter Fisher.
