Blue Devils avenge loss to TC Thunder

Another busy week of high school baseball showcased the first in-season rematch for Wayne High.

From the Pendragon Sports Complex, the Blue Devils visited Thurston-Cuming County on Tuesday.

After suffering a 7-3 loss in Wayne on March 27, Wayne avenged their loss thanks to a 6-0 victory. WHS improved to 11-5 winning their fourth straight while the TC Thunder fell to 6-3 dropping back-to-back.

Wayne High started the game with a single run in the top of the first inning. Senior Alex Rodriguez doubled in sophomore Jaxson Kneifl.

Following back-to-back scoreless innings, the Blue Devils added two runs in the top of the fourth. Junior Brodey Munter posted a RBI base hit driving in junior Drew Reinhardt followed by sophomore Adrian Contreras with a RBI base hit score sophomore Chase Sturm.

Neither team scored in the fifth as Wayne High plated two more runs in the top of the sixth to go up 5-0. Munter recorded a two-RBI double driving in freshman Easton Endicott and junior Parker Patefield.

WHS tallied one more run in the top of the seventh when Reinhardt singled in senior Gavin Redden.

Final favored Wayne High winning 6-0 while outhitting Thurston-Cuming County, 12-5. Both teams recorded one error.

Chase Sturm finished with three singles and a run scored; Brodey Munter singled, doubled and drove in three runs; Drew Reinhardt singled twice, drove in a run and scored as Alex Rodriguez doubled and drove in a run.

Gavin Redden and Pater Patefield both singled and scored as Jaxson Kneifl and Easton Endicott both scored.

Redden (72 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout victory in seven innings allowing five hits while striking out four batters and walking one.
