The Wayne High softball team picked up a pair of wins on Monday in a triangular at Schulyer.
In the first game, the Blue Devils made quick work of the host Warriors, winning 17-1.
Wayne blew the game open with nine runs in the second inning and finished the game with 17 hits, with Kendall Dorey, Kayla Fleming, Tori Kniesche, Brianna Nissen, Aliah Schulz, Amara Hurlbert and Nicole Fertig each recording two hits. Ten of the 14 batters had at least one hit in the contest.
Kendall Dorey threw a complete-game three-hitter for the Blue Devils, striking out seven and allowing no walks.
In the nightcap, Tori Kniesche threw a three-inning perfect game as Wayne racked up a 15-0 blanking of West Point-Beemer.
Wayne scored three runs in the first inning before lighting up the Cadets for 12 in the second inning.
Brooklyn Kruse hit her first high school dinger in the opening frame, a solo shot that followed Tori Kniesche’s third homer of the season, a two-run blast that opened the scoring.
Fleming and Dorey both had doubles to highlight the 12-run second inning, where Wayne picked up seven hits in the inning.
Kniesche and Kruse each had two hits to lead Wayne’s nine-hit effort. Kniesche struck out all nine batters that she faced in the win.
Wayne hosts Boone Central/Newman Grove and Pierce in a 4:30 p.m. triangular Tuesday at the Summer Sports Complex. They are home Thursday to face Columbus.
