Blue Devils fifth in MSC, ready for subdistricts

The Wayne High volleyball team entered subdistrict play next week on the right note, claiming fifth-place honors with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-7 win over Battle Creek in the Mid State Conference volleyball tournament Thursday at  Battle Creek.
Allison Echtenkamp racked up 22 kills in the win, with Lindy Sandoz adding 11 and Kylie Hammer putting down six. Emily Matthes had three ace serves and Hammer and Emily Armstrong each had two. Brenna Vovos had 21 assists and Sandoz added 20.
Defensively, Sandoz and Shania Anderson both had two blocks. Hammer recorded 18 digs and Matthes added 15.
Wayne, , has the top seed for the C1-7 subdistrict that begins Monday at Norfolk High School. They’ll take on the winner of the Norfolk Catholic vs. Madison play-in game at 7:30 p.m.
