With district competition to get underway the final five weeks of the regular season, Wayne High football suffered their third loss of the season.
From Bob Cunningham Field on the campus of Wayne State College, a late scoring surge by Logan View/Scribner Snyder was too much for the host Blue Devils who dropped a 40-7 decision on Sept. 19.
Both teams are now 1-3 on the season.
Following a scoreless first quarter, the visiting Raiders scored the opening points in the second quarter.
Wayne High answered thanks to a 60-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by senior Jace Jorgensen to tie the game at 7-7.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder then scored 33 straight points.
The Raiders found pay dirt with their own special team scores (60-yard kickoff return in first quarter and 63-yard punt return in second quarter), along with touchdown runs (56 yards in third, two yards in fourth and 14 yards in fourth) in the second half.
Sophomore quarterback Easton Endicott finished 4-15 for 62 yards and one interception with a long of 27 yards. Junior Blake Smith competed 3-7 for 27 yards with a long of 13 yards to go along with five rushes for 14 yards.
Senior Taven Ocampo recorded 27 carries for 65 yards (long of 25).
Senior Brodey Munter hauled in four receptions for 37 yards (long of 13) and ran the ball once for seven yards.
Other catches came from senior Parker Patefield (27 yards), junior Chase Nelson (18 yards) and Jorgensen (seven yards).
Junior William Patefield posted a team-high six tackles (five solo) followed by older brother Parker Patefield with five tackles (four solo) and one tackle for loss.
Jorgensen tacked on four tackles (three solo), two tackles for loss and an interception.
Sophomore Trent Hays also recovered a fumble.
Wayne High will next visit undefeated (4-0) O'Neill on Friday, September 26 at 6 p.m. (different kickoff time due to homecoming in O'Neill).
