Postseason recognitions are starting to be posted with several Wayne High softball players among the 24 listed All-Conference/Honorable Mention.
According to a release, the 2024 Mid State All-Conference selections featured 13 First Team and 11 honorable mentioned student-athletes.
Wayne High First Team All-Conference were led by junior Nyla Bolles and senior Sammi Gubbels.
Bolles recorded a .551 hitting percentage and .798 slugging percentage with 107 plate appearances and led Wayne High in hits (49), singles (33), doubles (12), triples (two), runs scored (41), hit by pitch (nine), stolen bases (20) and tied for the team lead in homeruns (two). She also had 19 RBI.
Sammi Gubbels led the Blue Devil pitching staff with 91 innings pitched (1,467 pitches) and appeared in 22 games with 20 starts going 13-6 with one save. She allowed 67 runs (41 earned) off 108 hits while striking out 96 batters, walking 28 and hitting three with a 3.142 ERA.
At the plate, Gubbels hit .354, led the team in RBI with 24 and walks (13), was second on the team in hits with 28 and singles (24) and tied for second in doubles (four). She also recorded a .971 field percentage with just one error.
Honorable mention Wayne softball individuals were senior Rylin Hall, junior Reagan McGuire and Mackenzie Nissen as well as freshman Kinnley McGuire.
Hall recorded a .301 hitting percentage with 22 hits (16 singles, four doubles, tied for first with two homeruns), 20 RBI, 25 run scored, 11 walks and seven hit by pitch.
Reagan McGuire finished with a .281 hitting percentage, 18 hits (14 singles, three doubles, one triple), 14 RBI, 25 runs scored, 10 walks and seven stolen bases.
Nissen was the second pitcher in the circle for Wayne with 48 innings (846 pitches) appearing in 13 games with nine starts going 5-5. She allowed 40 runs (32 earned) off 47 hits while striking out 58 batters, walking 31 and hitting two. At the plate, Nissen hit .348, had 22 RBI, 24 hits (21 singles, two doubles, one HR) and had 13 runs scored. She also recorded a .960 field percentage with just one error.
Kinnley McGuire hit .329 with 23 hits (22 singles, one double), 17 RBI, 25 runs scored and 12 walks.
The Wayne High softball team finished 19-11.
