Ahead of two straight home games, the Wayne High football team traveled to O'Neill.
District action began on Sept. 26 where Wayne dropped a 47-21 decision against the Eagles falling to 1-4.
O'Neill jumped out to a 19-0 lead followed by a 21-0 second quarter to lead 40-0 at half.
Wayne High came out strong in the third quarter scoring 14 points while both teams finished with a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Easton Endicott finished 18-27 for 207 yards (long of 45) with three touchdowns. He added three rushes for 19 yards (long of 18).
Junior Blake Smith went 1-4 for 22 yards passing.
Senior Taven Ocampo led the ground game on 12 attempts for 56 yards (long of 14).
Sophomore Angel Vargas Brizuela tacked on two carries for 27 yards (long of 18). He also hauled in a 22-yard catch.
Sophomore Theo Claussen caught three passes all for touchdowns (13/5/23 yards respectively) for 41 yards.
Senior Jace Jorgensen was the top target on four catches for 82 yards (long of 45).
Other receptions came from junior Chase Nelson (four for 27 yards); senior Parker Patefield (two for 26 yards);junior William Patefield (one for 18 yards) and senior Brodey Munter (four for 13 yards).
Taven Ocampo finished with seven solo stops to lead the Wayne defense followed by junior Waylon Huff on five solo tackles.
Junior Maddux Heithold and Munter both tallied four solo tackles and one tackle for loss.
O'Neill outgained Wayne High, 444-337 in total yards (345-108 rushing/99-229 passing).
The Blue Devils finished 5-11 on third downs and 0-2 on fourth down while the host Eagles went 4-7 on third downs and converted one of two on fourth down.
Wayne High is next scheduled to host Columbus Lakeview on Friday, October 3 at 7 p.m.
