Ahead of a second home outing this week, Wayne High softball welcomed one of the newest members to the Mid State Conference.
From the Wayne Softball Complex, WHS entertained Ponca on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils took control in the second inning and won 11-0 over Ponca to improve to 13-6 as the Indians fell to 4-15.
Wayne High scored a run in the first followed by a six-run second inning. WHS added four more runs in the third to win 11-0 and outhit Ponca, 11-2. The Indians committed three errors compared to one by Wayne.
Nyla Bolles doubled, drove in three runs and scored twice; Rylin Hall doubled, drove in three runs and scored; Reagan McGuire singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice; Sammi Gubbels doubled and drove in a run; Kinnley McGuire singled twice and drove in a run as Mackenzie Nissen singled twice and scored.
Lily Gubbels singled and drove in a run; Lilly Johnson singled and scored as Courtney Roeber scored twice.
Sammi Gubbels (54 pitches) picked up the win in three shutout innings allowing one hit while striking out six batters. Nissen (20) worked a shutout inning allowing one hit while striking out three batters and walking one.
