Postseason softball began Monday afternoon for Wayne High.
From Crete High School, #2 Wayne began postseason play against #3 Lincoln Northwest during the second semifinal game.
Thanks to a seven-run inning, the Blue Devils picked up an 11-1 win. The Blue Devils will next face #1 Crete (22-8) who won 11-0 in four innings over #4 Raymond Central (10-21) earlier in the afternoon. WHS is now (19-10) on the season.
Wayne High began with a two-run opening inning followed by seven more runs in the second to lead 9-0.
Following a scoreless third, Wayne used a 2-1 advantage in the fourth to win 11-1. WHS outhit the Falcons, 10-2. Lincoln Northwest committed three errors compared to two by the Blue Devils.
Nyla Bolles singled three times, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Sidney Nelson singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored as Rylin Hall recorded a two-run homerun.
Lilly Johnson singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Sammi Gubbels singled and drove in a run; Lily Gubbels singled and scored; Jordyn Gamble accounted for a RBI and run scored; Mackenzie Nissen added a RBI as Kinnley McGuire scored.
Sammi Gubbels (72 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in four innings allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out four batters as well as hitting and walking one batter each.
