The Wayne High track and field team will have seven athletes competing in next week's State Track and Field Championships after qualifying in Thursday's B-4 distrit meet at Columbus' Pawnee Park.
Mike Leatherdale will lead the Blue Devil charge after winning both the discus and the shot put. He won the discus with a best mark of 149 feet, 9 inches, and took the shot put with a best throw of 50-11 3/4.
Cody Rogers qualified in the boys long jump with a runner-up finish, Aaron Reynolds placed second in the 400-meter dash and Reece Jaqua was third in the high jump.
Three Wayne High girls earned trips to state. Gabi Meyer was second in the 800-meter run, while Maysn Dorey and Hailey Backer finished second and third, respectively, in the pole vault.
