After last competing on the course on Sept. 5, the Wayne High girls golf program continued their season with a road invitational.

From Evergreen Hill Golf Course in Battle Creek, the Blue Devils joined other teams during the Battle Creek Invite on Monday.

Following some morning rain and afternoon wind, WHS shot a 375 to win the Battle Creek Invite. West Holt followed in second with a 405.

Head Wayne High girls golf coach Josh Johnson said, “I was pretty happy with how we scored today on a tough course in tough conditions. We were off for 10 days and it showed a bit. The girls fought through it all and got the job done today.  I’m always amazed at 1. How competitive these girls are and 2. How quickly they bounce back from a bad hole.  I look forward to the last half of the season push.”

The Blue Devils were led by the individual champion being Joslyn Johnson with an 88 followed by Carli Canham at third with a 90 (lost scorecard tie breaker for second). Charli Sievers placed fifth with a 96, Lindsay Niemann earned a ninth place medal thanks to a 101 as Hallie Heithold took 11th with a 104 (lost scorecard playoff for 10th).
