Bolles, Roeber combine for six hits during home victory

Following a short break of competition, the Wayne High softball team went right back to work for their seventh home game of the season.

From the Wayne Softball Complex, Class B WHS welcomed Class C Tekamah-Herman on Monday.

The host Blue Devils took advantage of early run production which led to a 12-2 victory in four innings. Wayne improved to 6-2 as Tekamah-Herman fell to 1-8.

Neither team scored in the first inning. Wayne High started with a seven-run second inning followed by a 4-2 advantage in the third inning to lead 11-2. WHS added one more run in the fourth to win 12-2 and outhit Tekamah-Herman, 12-3. Wayne had one error compared to four errors by the Tigers.

Courtney Roeber singled three times, drove in three runs and scored twice; Nyla Bolles singled three times and scored twice; Kinnley McGuire singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored three times as Sammi Gubbels singled twice and drove in two runs.

Mackenzie Nissen singled, drove in a run and scored; Jordyn Gamble singled and scored twice as Lily Gubbels accounted for a RBI.

Sammi Gubbels (62 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in four innings allowing two runs off three hits while striking out five batters and walking two.
