Boomerfest is excited to be back for 2022!  After a two year hiatus due to the pandemic it is time we safely gather again.

Boomerfest will take place on Thursday, April 21.

Boomerfest was formerly known as Elderfest and was created as a way to give back to those who have contributed to our community. It is open to anyone, but the primary participants are the seniors in Wayne and the surrounding areas.

The day's event gets underway at the Wayne City Auditorium at noon with a Vendor Fair that will last until 2 p.m.

A 10-Point Pitch Tournament begins at 1 p.m. and will feature cash prizes.

This year Boomerfest will feature The Burt Heithold Band from 2 to 5 p.m. and The Embers Band from 6 to 9 p.m.

Visitors can enjoy a sweet treat of brownie sundaes in the afternoon from 3 to 4 p.m. while listening to music from Burt Heithold.  During the evening attendees will be able to enjoy pizza and the caricature artist until 7 p.m.

A free-will donation will be accepted at the event.

In the years past the event has brought approximately 500 participants throughout the day.

Corporate sponsors for the event include: Big Red Country, 104.9 and The City KCTY 98.9 FM 1590 AM, Kinship Pointe Wayne, Providence Medical Center, State Nebraska Bank & Trust and Wayne Countryview Care and Rehabilitation.

The event is also sponsored in part by a grant from the Wayne County Convention and Visitors' Bureau.
