After playing twice inside the Dordt Dome the past two Wednesdays, the Wayne State College softball team will prepare for a trip to Kansas this weekend while a newcomer recently collected a top league weekly honor.

According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, redshirt freshman pitcher Kennadi Borngrebe was announced Tuesday morning as the Northern Sun Pitcher of the Week after her performance over Briar Cliff at the Dordt Dome last Wednesday evening.

The graduate of Elkhorn South High School struck out 12 batters in a 7-0 win over the Chargers.

She also impressed league officials in the batters box, hitting 5 for 8 in the doubleheader sweep. She was 2 for 4 with a double and RBI in game one and 3 for 4 with a triple and run scored in the second game.

The Wayne State softball is off to a 4-0 start. The Wildcats are scheduled to play in the Washburn Tournament in Topeka, Kansas Friday through Sunday, pending weather.
