Bowlers beat storm, Jaguars

With a winter storm creeping toward town Thursday afternoon, the Wayne High bowlers took care of business at Wildcat Lanes with wins over Howells-Dodge.

In boys action, the Blue Devils rolled their way to a 20-1 win, sweeping the team scoring in head-to-head competition (851-577, 870-632) and getting an easy win in the Baker game with a 218-120 triumph.

In the first head-to-head battle, Wayne won all five games with Jaden Dramse (174), Zane Sievers (148), Jamison Meyer (159), Dylan Jensen (162) and Aiden Peterson (208) claiming victories. In the second game, winners included Sievers (162), Blake Smith (179), Jensen (195) and Petersen (216), with Dramse and Meyer combining for a 128.

The girls also claimed an easy win, taking the head-to-head matchups 852-641 and 785-612 while winning the Baker match 152-117 for a 19-2 overall victory.

First-game winners included Joslyn Johnson (193), Graycen Trautman (136), Lindsay Niemann (183) and Jersi Jensen (212) with Nina Hammer bowling a 128. In the second game, winners were Johnson and Sammi Gubbels (144), Hammer (146), Niemann (166) and Jensen (203) with Trautman and Madi Janke combining for a 126.

In JV action, Wayne would go on to win the match. Bowling and scoring JV action included Madi Janke (97, 168), Sammi Gubbels (147, 153) Regan Fernau (109, 113, 200), Rylee Durant (81, 98, 105), McKaeya Becker (136, 117, 164), Mahlik Campbell (79, 76), Jacob Russman (126, 158), Lucas Allemann (92, 139), Joe Leatherdale (145, 110), Karter Hayes (131, 151), and Dillon Hanau (105, 218). 

Wayne will next host Norfolk on Thursday Jan. 18.
