BOYS SUBDISTRICTS -- Wayne, Wakefield win; LCC likely wild card

Posted

Wayne came from behind in the second half and lit up Norfolk Catholic for 37 fourth-quarter points to post a 66-54 win and win the C1-7 subdistrict Thursday at Norfolk High School.

The Blue Devils were joined by Wakefield as winners advancing to the district finals. Wakefield won a physical C2-6 subdistrict final at Norfolk Catholic, surviving in a 57-49 win over Howells-Dodge.

In the C2-7 subdistrict final at Wayne High School, LCC and Ponca met for the third time this season and Ponca won the rubber game of the season series, getting a basket with :07 left to outlast the Bears, 50-48.

Despite the loss, LCC is likely still in the C-2 district bracket as a wild card. Brackets for C-1, C-2, D-1 and D-2 will be annonced by the NSAA Thursday. Games are scheduled to be played Saturday, but may be moved back with the forecast for a weekend snowstorm in the area.
