Brummels from Winside wins L&C Conference girls race, Tri County Northeast girls earn team runner-up

Two final Wayne Herald area cross country programs closed out their conference race being Tri County Northeast and Winside on Oct. 10.

From Rolling Hills Golf Course, Wausa/Bloomfield was the host of the Lewis and Clark Conference Cross Country Championships.

The Tri County Northeast girls finished runner-up with 25 points while the Wolfpack boys took fourth with 48 points.

No team scoring was recorded for Winside.

In  the girls division, TCNE medalists were senior Alejandra Hermosillo taking fourth in 22:11.7, followed by senior Rachael Bousquet in eighth (22:21.33) and sophomore Chloe Peters finished 14th (24:07.61).

Another Wolfpack result came from sophomore Hailey Millard in 23rd (25:46.61).

Winside's freshman Avery Brummels captured the Lewis and Clark girls 5k gold medal winning in a time of 21:26.76 among 31 conference runners.

Junior Aleah Bilstein rounded out the top 15 medalists (24:08.39).

Another Wildcat result was posted by freshman Leah Uttecht (20th - 24:58.79).

Homer won the Lewis and Clark Conference team race with 14 points ahead of the Wolfpack.

During the boys division, junior Jude Ridenour led the TCNE boys with a ninth place conference medal in 18:48.1.

Other Wolfpack results came from senior Alex Snyder (18th - 19:49.16), sophomore Tucker Anderson (24th - 20:59.5) and junior Matthew Bousquet (40th - 24:48.92).

Winside's lone runner was junior Ben Uttecht (43rd - 27:29.54).

Bloomfield-Wausa won the Lewis and Clark Conference team race with 12 points ahead of Homer in second (18).

Senior Conner Rohrer from Creighton was crowned Lewis and Clark Conference Cross Country champion on the 5k course in a time of 17:19.2 among the 43 runners.

In the junior high 2,500-meter run, the Winside girls were led by eighth grader Makenna Thies with a ninth place medal in 11:39.73 as eighth grader Phebe Uttecht finished 19th (14:33.17).

For the JH boys race, seventh grader Rei Shan Sinder placed 19th for the Winside boys (16:35.49).

The Tri County Northeast and Winside cross country teams are back in action on Oct. 16 during the D-2 District Championships from Skyview Lake in Norfolk. The girls race will start at 4:30 p.m. followed by the boys.
