Caleb Erwin earns Eagle Scout

After participating in Cub Scout Pack 176, Caleb Erwin of Laurel joined Boy Scout Troop 208 in 2019.

He participated in numerous camps and scout meetings over the years to help him to earn 30 merit badges including 14 Eagle required badges.

He participated in many community service projects that the troop was involved in.  The highlight of his time with Troop 208 was going on the High Adventure trip to the Black Hills in 2021 where they rode their bikes over 100 miles of the Mickelson Trail.

Caleb's Eagle Scout Service project was painting the playground equipment, general cleanup and spreading new gravel at the Laurel City Park.

He chose this project because his little sister, Emily, loves to go to the park.  He felt that there was some work that could be done to improve the playground area and equipment.

Caleb worked with the City of Laurel to plan, coordinate and successfully execute this project.  Over 15 past and current Scouts, friends, family members and adults volunteered in the two work days to complete the project.

According to Scout leaders who have worked with Caleb through the process, "these updates to the playground at the Laurel City Park will provide a fun and safe environment for children in and around the area for years to come."
