Cathy (Blaser) Sump passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 1, 2026.
The daughter of Lowell and Connie Blaser of Waterville Kansas, Cathy was the youngest of their four children. She married Johnny Sump in Waterville in June 1979, and they have two children, Anthony and Elizabeth.
Cathy taught in the public school system in Kansas, and later moved to Wayne, Nebraska to teach. Her home was a gathering place for friends and family and it always included the best snacks and the fewest rules. After years of teaching she and Johnny moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she continued her interest in education, working with the curriculum development company Cambium. When the opportunity arose to work at Riverside Technologies doing environmental research in Ft. Collins, Colorado she moved to her home in Loveland.
Cathy valued friends and family and always made time for those she grew up and worked with, never missing her birthday trip with her crew to Florida. But the absolute center of her life has always been her children and two grandsons who made regular visits to Loveland. Those trips were choreographed by the boys to include all their favorite activities and foods.
Cathy’s husband, Johnny, passed away in 2010 but she is survived by her brother, Terry, and wife Phyl; sister, Jan, and husband, Jeff Holyfield; sister-in-law, Cathy Blaser; eight nieces, eight great-nephews, five great-nieces, and most importantly, Anthony and wife Nelly; Elizabeth and Alex and their sons, Oliver and River.
She is lovingly remembered by family and friends who will miss the friendship and care she extended to them all.
