Centino for Wakefield boys, Carlson for Winside boys win gold; Winside girls also in action at Oakland-Craig Invite

Both Winside girls and boys as well as the Wakefield boys competed on Saturday.

From Oakland, 12 girls and 17 boys teams were listed among the Oakland-Craig Invite.

The Winside girls placed 10th with 13 points among their two wrestlers while in the boys division, Wakefield finished 11th with 59.5 points among their five wrestlers as Winside followed in 12th with 56.5 points among their five wrestlers.

During the girls division, South Sioux City won the Oakland-Craig Invite with 123 points, Tekamah-Herman followed in runner-up (117), Lyons-Decatur Northeast took third (64), North Bend Central placed fourth (58) and Winnebago rounded out the top five teams with 42 points.

The Winside girls were led by Lilly Umbarger (145) with a runner-up finish while Raylyn Behmer (115) follower in sixth place.

From the boys division, Westwood, IA won the Oakland-Craig Invite with 208 points, West Point-Beemer followed in runner-up (170), Omaha Buena Vista took third (166.5), Randolph placed fourth (154) and Pender rounded out the top five teams with 153 points.

The Wakefield boys were led by an event champion of Domingo Centino (144) winning his weight class.

Fifth place medals came from Baldwin Garcia (106), Lane Fischer (132) and Ruben Vegan (157) as Ezequiel Ramirez (165) was also in action.

The Winside boys were led by an event champion from Korbin Carlson (150) winning his division. Other medals came from Mason Edwards (138) in fourth as Stratton Sellin (144) took sixth.

William Pace (165) and Braxton Rastede (285) were also in action.

The Winside girls are off until the Ainsworth Invite on Friday, Jan. 31.
