Centino punches ticket to state for Wakefield boys, fourth place in district

Trojan wrestling took to postseason competition during the C-2 District over the weekend.

From Tekamah-Herman High School, Wakefield joined 15 other teams on Saturday.

The Wakefield boys placed 15th with 26 points among their six wrestlers.

David City won the C-2 District with 166.5 points, Cedar Catholic followed in runner-up (164), Wood River took third (124), host Tekamah-Herman placed fourth (115) and Bishop Neumann rounded out the top five teams with 108.5 points.

Wakefield will send Domingo Centino (144) to state with a fourth place district medal. Centino suffered a loss by fall (3:26) in the third place match.

Other scoring came from Lane Fischer (138) lost in consolation round three, Ruben Vega (157) lost in consolation round two and Landon Ryion (165) lost in consolation round two while Baldwin Garcia (106) lost in consolation round two and Ezequiel Ramirez (175) lost in consolation round two were also in action.

The 2025 NSAA State Wrestling Individual championships for the boys will be Thursday, Feb. 20 – Saturday, Feb. 22 at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.
