Area Conference boys wrestling competition took over the weekend with the Wakefield boys on the mat.
From Lyons-Decatur Northeast High School, 13 teams recorded points during the East Husker Conference boys wrestling tournament on Saturday.
The Wakefield boys finished eighth with 61 points among their four wrestlers.
Tekamah-Herman won the EHC boys tournament with 163.5 points; Pender followed in runner-up (134.5), North Bend took third (96.5), West Point-Beemer placed fourth (96) and Stanton rounded out the top five teams with 95 points.
Domingo Centino (144) was the top Wakefield wrestling placing second.
Third place conference medals came from Baldwin Garcia (106), Lane Fischer (132) and Ruben Vega (157).
There was no East Husker Conference girls wrestling tournament this year.
The Wakefield girls will next travel to Pierce for the Class B-3 Girls District competition on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7 - 8. The Wakefield boys will next host the Wakefield Invite on Saturday, Feb. 8.
