Champions crowned during Wayne Junior High Invite

A culmination of six meets from April 10 through May 6 concluded with home competition for the Wayne seventh and eighth grade track & field season.

From Kern Track, the Wayne eighth grade girls finished runner-up with 93.5 points while the Blue Devil seventh grade girls won their division with 161 points. The Wayne eighth grade boys totaled 61 points for fifth and the Blue Devil seventh grade boys placed fourth with 62.41 points.

Individual Wayne girls champions were Tayla Hurner during the eighth grade 800-meter run (2:38.67) and 1600-meter run (5:52.99); Sienna Lipp in the eighth grade high jump (4' 9"); the Wayne eighth grade 4x400-meter relay of Lipp, Lilly Redden, Elizabeth Hix and Hurner (4:46.52); Penelope Cupp Zavada during the seventh grade 200-meter dash (28.55), 100-meter hurdles (18.74) and 195-meter hurdles (31.1); Sarah Kuchta in the seventh grade 800-meter run (2:43.34); Hadley Dunklau during the seventh grade 1600-meter run (6:00.94); Ady Hays in the seventh grade high jump (4' 6"); Sadi Fredrickson during the seventh grade pole vault (6' 6") and Chloe Kai in the seventh grade triple jump (29' 1").

Runner-up results were posted by Hurner during the eighth grade high jump (4' 9"); Zavada Cupp in the seventh grade 100-meter dash (13.61); Kai during the seventh grade 400-meter dash (1:11.55); Hays in the seventh grade 800-meter run (2:45.13); Kuchta during the 1600-meter run (6:25.73); Lucy Ocampo in the seventh grade discus (61' 2 1/2") and the seventh grade 4x400-meter relay team of Kai, Kuchta, Rose Kaup and Dunklau (4:55.95);

For the Wayne boys, gold medals were awarded to Chase Rethwisch in the eighth grade triple jump (35' 5 1/2") as well as Hudson Willrich during the seventh grade 100-meter hurdles (18.7).

Runner-up results were posted by Jacob Fehringer during the eighth grade 1600-meter run (5:42.1);bWillrich during the 195-meter hurdles (32.83) and Louie Severson in the seventh grade high jump (4' 4").

Also, the Wakefield girls eighth grade team placed sixth with 49 points and seventh grade girls took sixth with 12 points while the Wakefield boys eighth graders finished eighth with 32 points and seventh grade boys totaled 26 points for sixth.

The Wakefield girls were led by several runner-up finishes from Maci Kratke during the eighth grade 100-meter dash (14.01), 195-meter hurdles (32.09) and triple jump (29' 9") as well as Solano Citlali in the seventh grade 195-meter hurdles (35.62).

Colt Johnson stole the show for the Wakefield eighth grade boys winning 200-meter dash (25.16), 195-meter hurdles (28.43) and high jump (5' 4").
