Championship results from area holiday basketball tournaments

Another round of northeast Nebraska girls and boys basketball teams were back on the court with champions crowned on Saturday.

Majority of the holiday tourney’s were ending on Saturday.

The Summerland Holiday Tourney in Ewing showcased both Wakefield and Winside

In the girls consolation round, Wakefield (1-7) won 41-30 over Winside (2-5) while the championship game favored Summerland (4-5) won 58-33 over Ainsworth (2-6) in the finals.

The Wakefield girls were led by sophomore Boston Brown and senior Alli Brown both with 13 points and nine rebounds. The Winside girls were led by sophomore Hadleigh Schutt with 15 points and Ellie Topp added 10 points.

During the boys consolation, Ainsworth (1-6) won 59-43 over Winside (1-6) while Wakefield (3-5) finished runner-up following a 70-36 loss to Summerland (8-0) in the finals.

Leaders for the Winside boys were freshman Jahiem Hamik with 12 points followed by junior Caleb Offner with 10 points. The top scorer for the Wakefield boys was junior Jacob Borg with 19 points.

The Stanton Tournament continued on Saturday.

In the girls consolation round, Twin River (4-3) won 55-24 over Neligh-Oakdale (1-7) while Stanton (5-3) won 51-32 over Tri County Northeast (4-5) in the finals.

During the boys consolation, Stanton (1-7) won 73-11 over Neligh-Oakdale (0-8) while Twin River (3-4) won 62-58 over Tri County Northeast (2-7) in the finals.
