Wayne State freshman first baseman Emily Chandler was named the Northern Sun Conference Player of the Week for her efforts last week.
The freshman from Simi Valley, Calif., went on a tear at the plate last week, hitting .444 for the week (12-of-27) with four home runs and 13 RBI's. She hit home runs in three straight games and had a .889 slugging percentage.
Chandler went 3-for-4 with three RBI's in a 5-4 win at Washburn and had a home run and four RBI's Sunday in a 6-5 win at St. Cloud State.
Currently, Chandler leads the NSIC in slugging percentage (.726), is second in on-base percentage (.503), tied for second in RBI's (47) and is third in batting average (.444).
