Changes in area sports schedule due to weather

Several area sporting events have been called off or postponed due to the freezing rain that has hit the area Friday.

Here are the latest announcements:

-- Wayne State College track and field coach Marlon Brink announced that the Wayne State College Class II (small school) Invitational Indoor Track and Field Meet scheduled for Friday has been cancelled and will not be made up. The meet was scheduled to attract 17 teams to the WSC Recreation Center. Brink did announce that the WSC Class I (big school) Invitational scheduled for Saturday is still on as scheduled, with field events starting Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and running events beginning at 12:30 p.m.

-- Wayne High baseball games at Mt. Michael have been called off for tomorrow. No makeup date has been announced.

-- Saturday's Wayne State baseball doubleheader with Mary is being moved to Millard North High School with a 2 p.m. start. Sunday's games are still planned for 12 p.m. in Wayne at the Chapman Complex.
