After beginning the Wayne City Council meeting with mayoral proclamation designating Friday, April 24 at Arbor Day, council members took action on a wide variety of items.

The first of these was a presentation from Matt Anderson with the Nebraska Military Department's Community Partnership Program.

It is anticipated that the signing ceremony would take place some time in mid-September.

Council members approved a request to waive the Wayne City Auditorium rental fee for a fund-raising event on Saturday, April 25.

The event will raise funds for Tiffany Wiese and her family. Wiese has had 18 surgeries and has not worked since April 2024. In addition, she has had leg amputation and spent 138 days at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Madonna Rehabilitation Center.

Council members spent considerable time on an agenda item dealing with the awarding of a bid for the Wayne Prairie Park  Development - Phase 4 - Baseball Fields Project.

The Wayne City Council will next meet in regular session on Monday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers.
