CatCHAT is a new series developed by Wayne State’s School of Business and Technology. It is designed to inspire and empower future leaders to stay in Northeast Nebraska, start businesses, and help the greater community prosper.

Mueller is the owner and operator of Samson LLC in Columbus. He founded Samson in 1986 to serve producers by building innovative and sustainable agricultural systems.

The Process Verified Program (PVP) certifies Source & Age, NHTC, Samson Verified Natural, and numerous other claims sought after by stakeholders in the beef industry. A culmination of Samson's original mission and US Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (USRSB) framework, Samson's EcoSmart Beef is Samson's proprietary program, which helps cattle producers implement increasingly sustainable strategies and communicates the highest level of stewardship standards.

Alongside his wife, Pat, Mueller revitalized downtown Columbus businesses, including their home and Samson headquarters, The Evans House. Mueller is supported by his sons Brandon and Jordan in information technology, accounting, and human resources.

In 2021, the Mueller family hosted the Cattlemen's Ball of Nebraska, raising $1.7 million for cancer research and health initiatives.

In 2015, Samson LLC was named the Small Business of the Year for Nebraska by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Mueller earned his master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Wayne State College, and his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
