After several budget sessions and lengthy meetings on the future spending of Wayne County, the 26-27 fiscal year budget was set during the Sept. 1 regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting which also showcased additional details on a building project.

From the Public Annex, most of the work was already complete as the formality of the budget hearing was held on the first day of September with Mike Pommer explaining more on the budget.

No one from the public spoke during the budget hearing.

The Wayne County cash reserve for the 26-27 fiscal budget is still holding at two million dollars being an average number.

For the final half of the meeting, Jerry Berggren with Berggren Architects shared details as the starting point on the preliminary information he put together after meeting with county attorney Amy Miller as the Commissioners look to make space with an addition for her office.

He sketched out nine individual spaces as well as the mechanical space for the new addition which totaled roughly 2,100 square-feet.

No action was made but it was a good starting point with additional discussion needing to be taken among the board and those who work in the courthouse.

The next regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting will be on Sept. 15 at 9 a.m.
