Just a few items made up the Oct. 20 regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting.

From the Public Annex, the board was presented 10 Lodging Tax Grant Applications which passed through the Wayne County Convention and Visitor's Bureau Committee on their recommendations.

Eight of the 10 were approved by the committee with a pair of Wayne County Fair applications, totaling $2,000 each receiving a 3-3 split vote as the applications were submitted past the deadline.

All three Commissioners agreed with a 3-0 vote that the applications needed to be submitted prior to deadline and denied the two Wayne County Fair applications.

Scott Watters, with Warnemunde Insurance closed the regular agenda to start the process on bidding and receiving specs for property/casualty insurance with workers compensation included. This would be for July 1, 2026 - July 1, 2027 and include everything but health insurance.

As the Commissioners were beginning their meeting, Deputy  County Attorney Ted Lohrberg made a suggestion that the board go into executive session at the end of the meeting for potential litigation.

The Wayne County Board of Commissioners will next meet on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m.
