Commissioners discuss addition, in search of maintenance/custodial position

Several yearly approvals along with past agenda items being finalized were highlighted early during the regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting before the bulk of discussion surrounded the future of an addition to the Annex as well as a county maintenance and custodial position.

From the Wayne County Public Annex on Oct. 6, all three commissioners are on the same page of now is not the time for an addition to the courthouse as they continue to work towards avoiding to pay rent for county officials.

Another option was looking at reaching out to Jill Brodersen for additional assistance with a local architect.

Commissioners have the goal to be respectful to tax payers and, when using some of the Inheritance Fund, to be fiscally responsible.

Wayne County is currently without a maintenance/custodial employee as the commissioners would like to commend county employees working in the courthouse stepping up with the day-to-day cleaning.

County Clerk Joni Tietz stated back when she first began it was a retired a couple before just hiring cleaning services and then a part-time custodian who also worked in the Sheriff's office.

The next regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting will be on Oct. 20 at 9 a.m.
