Commissioners will have some homework to finalize details that has been an on going agenda item in discussing hourly pay raises as Wayne America provided an annual report during the regularly scheduled June 16 Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting.
From the Public Safety Annex, Director of Economic Development Luke Virgil highlighted Wayne America, Inc.; business recruitment, retention and transitions; housing; tourism and event promotion, Wayne America team roles and activities as well as additional goals for the near future.
After another lengthy discussion on hourly pay raises and a motion dying due to a lack of a second ultimately tabled the agenda which will need to be finalized during the next meeting in three weeks.
Commissioner Terry Sievers followed with he is big on evaluations and would like to reward long term with more vacation time.
He would rather see pay raises based on evaluations per individual but didn't have a number early in the meeting.
Kemnitz presented a quote through ANCO to climb the NET television tower and confirm any issues that have been recently acting up on the antennas pertaining to the fire repeater and public service/mutual aid repeater. For an additional $550, the company will also inspect the other two antennas of sheriff and EMS.
Commissioners would like to see the checking of tower equipment every 4-5 years to prevent future damage.
Additional agenda items included Commissioners signing the resolution to issue tax sale certificates from information shared by Lisa Lindsay, County Treasurer from earlier in June, yearly update from Wayne County representative Deb Hammer through Nebraska Community Action Partnership (NENCAP), accepting the resignation of Kelly Meyer effective June 15 from the Weed Board as Commissioners now have 45 days to fill the rural position per state statute and maintenance guidelines for new hire Adam Westerhold to follow.
The next regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting will be on Tuesday, July 7 at 9 a.m.
