A rather light agenda was in store during the Sept. 15 regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting.
From the Public Annex, Commissioners first heard from B.J. Woehler with discussion of the DHHS lease that was initially put in place before another board member retired.
The space in Dearborn Mall had an initial lease that began May of 2015 with rent being $700 a month as Woehler will be requesting an increase due to insurance nearly doubling over the past six years on the building.
Wayne County has to furnish a place for DHHS until June 30, 2028.
Luke Virgil, Director of Economic Development at Wayne America, Inc. then followed with their quarterly report in what the organization has been doing and an update on the inter-local agreement with Wayne County (City of Wayne approved at meeting in Sept.).
A third agenda item was brought about after Commissioner Terry Sievers received a call following concerns of the tree by the Veterans monument on the east lawn of the Wayne County Courthouse. The request was to trim some of the tree around the monument.
The next regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting will be on Oct. 6 at 9 a.m.
