Concordia-St. Paul took advantage of big innings to sweep Wayne State in NSIC softball action Friday at the Chapman Complex, winning 13-0 and 7-4.
The visitors broke open a scoreless game with two runs in the third, then cranked out five in the fourth and six more in the fifth to earn the easy win.
Amanda Parsons hit a pair of home runs for the Golden Bears, including a solo shot in the third and a three-run blast in the fourth off Wildcat freshman Maddie Moser, who allowed eight runs on eight hits in three innings.
Wayne State had four hits in the first game, with two coming off the bat of senior Katelyn Wobken, who also stole two bases. Taylor Menard doubled and Alyx Hagen singled.
In the nightcap, Wayne State trailed 2-0 early, but tied the game in the second when Abbie Hix tripled and scored on an Annie Grammar sacrifice fly and Jordyn Breitbarth tripled and scored on a wild pitch.
Wayne State led 4-2 in the fourth on an RBI single by Wobken and a bases-loaded walk by Emily Chandler, but the Golden Bears came back with five in the fifth, using a seven-hit inning that was capped by a two-run homer by Parsons, her third round-tripper of the day, to cap the come-from-behind win.
Breitbarth went 2-for-3 and scored twice in the second game to highlight a four-hit effort for the Wildcats.
Wayne State (7-18, 1-5 NSIC) will be on the road Wednesday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Winona State.
