In a meeting that lasted less than 30 minutes, the Wayne City Council took action to approve the budget for the coming fiscal year, approved payments on two projects and approved a request to waive the rental fee for the Wayne City Auditorium.
No one from the public spoke during a public hearing in regard to the budget.
City Finance Director Beth Porter told those in attendance that the 2026-2027 property tax request is $1,673,963.62 and the total assessed value of property within city limits is 8.87% higher than last year.
The property tax request for the coming year will be $.387753 cents per $100 of assessed value.
Council members also approved the appointment of Erin Arneson to the Wayne Planning Commission and Sharon Denker to the position of "Resident Commissioner" on the Wayne Housing Authority Board.
The Wayne City Council will next meet in regular session on Monday, Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers.
