Council holds mini-retreat, discusses variety of topics

Several agenda items were part of Wayne City Council's mini retreat on Monday.

Council members approved a resolution accepting a bid for the Wayne Water Distribution System Improvement Project.

A bid from Penro Construction, Inc. for $997,882.20 was approved for the project, which will include work to be done on Logan, Nebraska and Windom Streets from Seventh to 10th Street.

Work will begin yet this fall.

Council members also approved a contractor's certificate payment in the amount of $71,859.02 to Cooney Fertilizer, Inc. for the Prairie Park Phase 4 - Baseball Fields Project.

Retreat topics included discussion on whether or not food trucks required permits, lot restrictions on property at 900 East Seventh Street, trees between Walnut Drive and Pine Heights Road, sidewalk priorities, Keno Fund recognition, whether or not to allow campers in mobile home parks that are zone R-4, establishing sale prices for city properties and long term planning.

The Wayne City Council's next regularly scheduled meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 8, due to the Labor Day holiday on the regular meeting date of Monday, Sept. 7.
