A light Wayne County Board of Commissioners agenda allowed room for discussion on a few other items as the group will also begin their budget hearing process in late July.
From the Wayne County Courthouse basement meeting room on July 21, Adam Endicott with Agri-City Insurance in Wayne visited with the board about United Healthcare health insurance.
He stated the 7.8% increase was 'favorable' compared to across the board and last year's increase was 11%. Endicott has seen 15% and 35% increases this year as well.
Since 2019, Wayne County has received over $84,000 in rebates.
Wayne County Board of Commissioners then accepted the recommendation from the Noxious Weed Board on appointing Cory Russell of rural Winside to their rural board.
After accepting the resignation of Wayne County Weed Board Superintendent, Doug Deck on July 7 with his upcoming retirement, Deck put a hold on his brief retirement and will return as the Weed Superintendent for the remainder of the Noxious Weed season.
Wayne County Emergency Manager, Nic Kemnitz then presented to the board a few items starting with a grant he applied for last July.
Other agenda items pertained to appointing Joel Hansen to the Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Board being one of three representatives, District Two Commissioner Matt Eischeid will be placing a 1976 Cat Dozer on Big Iron in the coming months along with a trailer with the old dozer not being used since 2024 and taking up space as the board approved seven Lodging Tax Grant Applications.
The Wayne County Board of Commissioners will reconvene their meeting on July 24 at 9 a.m. in the basement of the courthouse to address the budget.
The next regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioner meeting will be on August 4 at 9 a.m.
